Portrait Information

I specialize in heirloom quality, fine-art black and white photographic portraits.

My goal is to create high-impact portraits that are proudly displayed at home or in the office.

Each subject is different. Before any shoot, I spend time talking with the subject, getting to know them, their personality and what animates them. I believe that only then can you really take a unique portrait.

Portraits are done either on location in your home, a local park or in my studio in Scarsdale, NY.

My technique is to highlight the face and upper body, losing any visual references to other objects in the picture, with the exception of a slight “fuzzy” background to provide depth.

All pictures are hand-made, using either traditional black and white darkroom techniques or modern digital photography, depending on the client’s wish.

Traditional film provides a warmth and grain that is difficult to achieve with digital cameras.

My printing process is arduous and most proofs will be ready within 3 weeks of being taken. Final prints, complete with framing are usually completed in another 2 weeks.
